Ringo Starr turned 77 on July 7. The Beatles drummer celebrated his birthday and the announcement of a new album. On Give More Love, Starr collaborates with a number of famous friends, like Dave Stewart, Peter Frampton, and former band-mate Paul McCartney.

Stewart and Starr initially wanted to make a country album, but a tour got in the way, and Ringo wrote “…all kinds of songs, with all kinds of friends” instead.

Give More Love – due September 15 digitally, and 27 on vinyl – will include 4 remakes of Starr’s past songs: “Back Off Boogaloo,” “Don’t Pass Me By,” “You Can’t Fight Lightning” and “Photograph.”
